The Laggan and Tormore fields are located approximately 125km north-west of the Shetland Islands, and represent the future of the UK oil and gas industry.
Both fields lie in an area known as “West of Shetland” a region dominated by harsh environmental conditions and challenging water depths. Here, water depths descend rapidly from an average of 120m to 600m and beyond. It’s a uniquely challenging environment in which to construct and operate an oil and gas field.
Construction of the offshore pipelines has been ongoing since 2012 and is now nearing completion.
CWS were approached in January 2011 by Total to provide project support for the offshore pipeline installation activities West of the Shetland Isles. In addition to the ongoing construction support activities CWS have also undertaken a number closely associated studies and design briefs including a detailed review of the proposed hot tap tie-in tee designs and a review of fishing activities West of the Shetland Isles.
Support team for pipeline installation activities East and West of Shetland Isles, review and revision of inline hot tap tee assemblies for lines East and West of Shetland Isles, West of Shetland fishing gear interaction study and review of pipeline protection measures and provision of dedicated Onshore / Offshore Site Mangers for the pipeline installation activities.
