SMART Award

SMART: Scotland is a scheme run by the Scottish Executive to support small businesses in the development of new, pioneering and commercially viable products, technologies, or processes to the benefit of the national economy. Clear Well Subsea was awarded the SMART award for the development of SeaTap, a ground-breaking Hot-Tapping system.

Company Director Keith Evans and his team were originally approached by a client to develop a system for remotely connecting subsea pipelines operating at temperatures of 60°C and pressures up to 250bar, in the North Sea. Existing technology developed for use in the Gulf of Mexico was non-operable in North Sea conditions. The SeaTap system is now used by Statoil in the Norwegian sector of the North Sea.

DTI Achievement Award

Clear Well has also been awarded an Achievement Award from the Department of Trade and Industry in recognition of the significant commercial success and continuing business development progress made by the company since it received its original SMART Award funding.
